Marie-Thérèse Walter (13 July 1909 – 20 October 1977)

Marie-Thérèse Walter was a mistress and model of Pablo Picasso. Picasso met her in 1927, when he struck up a conversation with her outside a Parisian department store.

She was just 17 years old and he was 45.

Marie-Thérèse Walter was large blonde, free-spirited and easy going, sensual and passive. Picasso liked her blonde hair, her luminous complexion, and her sculptured body. They soon began a secret affairs and Picasso rented an apartment for her one that was close to his own.

Picasso painted her for the first time in the Red Armchair.
