Who is Paul Cezanne?

Who is Paul Cezanne? Paul Cezanne was a French artist. He is famous for his landscapes and still-life paintings.

Paul Cezanne was born on January 19, 1839 in Aix-En-Provence. His father, Louis-Auguste Cezanne, was a hardheaded businessman and banker who standards of value based primarily on money and accumulation.

His father had linked his son’s future with the bank however Cezanne rebelled against it from the very beginning.

His school days were rather successful and he was the recipient so numerous prizes in mathematics, Latin and Greek,

From 1859 to 1861, he studied law at Aix and there formed a friendship with Emile Zola, who persuaded him in 1862 to go to Paris to study art at the Academie Suisse.

Toward 1872, largely under the influence do Pissarro, Cezanne began landscape painting and still lifes. 

Cezanne is thought of as a postimpressionist artist because he added new ideas to the impressionist style of painting.

While working alongside Monet, Renoir, and Pissarro, who were his friends all his life, Cezanne appraised their painting critically and followed his own, independent path.

He died in 1906. Among his most famous paintings are The Card Players, Man in a Straw Hat, Paysage rocheux, Rocky Landscape in Aix, and The Old Woman with Beads.
